Lead Engineer, New Product Introduction (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Yonezawa-shi, Yamagata, Japan; regular presence on the manufacturing floor is required.

What you will do

• Lead validation and qualification activities for new liquid micro contamination control filter products, processes, facilities, and equipment.
• Guide installation and commissioning of production-scale equipment using IQ/OQ protocols and qualify processes against KPOV targets.
• Design experiments, analyze data with statistical tools, and implement solutions to improve yield, capacity, variation, safety, quality, cost, and efficiency.
• Drive operational readiness and product and process scale-up from development to manufacturing through Stage-Gate processes and site transfers.
• Manage multiple projects, develop project plans, align cross-functional teams, and coordinate with global customers and sister facilities.
• Prepare drawings, SOPs, test procedures, test data, and other documentation while supporting manufacturing launch and sustaining operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field.
• At least 10–15 years of manufacturing experience, including leadership of processes or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Experience with filtration-related manufacturing processes, IQ/OQ/PQ protocols, SPC, FMEA, and V&Q processes.
• Six Sigma certification and practical statistical data analysis experience using MINITAB or similar tools.
• Demonstrated project management experience, analytical problem-solving ability, hands-on technical capability, and knowledge of lean manufacturing.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead collaboratively, influence multidisciplinary teams, prioritize effectively, and drive execution.

Nice to have

• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
• Subject-matter expertise in filtration manufacturing processes.
• Proven success qualifying new facilities, equipment, processes, or products.
