TL;DR
Composites Technician II, Drilling & Mechanical Assembly, First Shift (Aerospace): Building and assembling precision composite and metallic flight hardware for the Terran R reusable rocket with an accent on precision drilling, structural adhesive bonding, fastening, riveting, and composite trimming. Focus on operating calibrated tooling, performing critical lifts, maintaining manufacturing quality and safety, and collaborating with engineering and production teams.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite, first shift from 5:00 AM to 3:30 PM PT, Monday through Friday. The role has a baseline expectation of a 50-hour workweek and may include occasional overtime.

Salary: $27.20–$40.80 USD per hour

What you will do

  • Drill precision holes in composite and metallic components using drill motors, tooling, jigs, egg cups, and drill bars.
  • Assemble hardware with structural adhesives, torqued fasteners, inserts, and rivets.
  • Hand-trim composite hardware using cutoff wheels, routers, and appropriate jigs and tools.
  • Operate forklifts or cranes for critical lifts of flight hardware, tooling, and ground support equipment.
  • Maintain high standards for safety, shop cleanliness, and inclusive collaboration.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years of composites precision drilling and mechanical assembly experience in aerospace or a similar industry.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and communicating effectively with engineering and production.
  • Ability to set up and operate calibrated torque tools and precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, and pin gauges.

Nice to have

  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate.
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Experience partnering with manufacturing engineering, quality, and other business functions to build flight hardware.
