Engineering Manager, Spending, Savings, & Investing (FinTech)

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA. The in-office policy requires four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office; a fully remote program is also available.

Salary: $199,000–$275,000 base salary per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Manage and develop a squad of 4–5 engineers through hiring, one-on-ones, coaching, and performance management.
• Own end-to-end delivery, from sprint planning and commitments through service-level agreements and operational health.
• Write and ship production code alongside the team while guiding technical direction, architecture, and quality.
• Use AI coding agents and tooling to improve individual and team productivity and establish durable development practices.
• Partner with Product, Design, and Analytics on scope, prioritization, planning, dependencies, and capacity.
• Drive sustainable engineering, incident response, on-call health, career growth, and broader engineering initiatives.

Requirements

• 2+ years of people management experience.
• Current hands-on coding ability and a desire to continue contributing to the codebase.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or Cursor in real delivery and helping teams adopt them.
• Experience coaching engineers on execution, skills, and career progression.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills with Product, Design, and Analytics.
• Experience with Ruby, React Native, distributed systems, AWS data and compute services, and service-oriented architectures.
