Sr. Engineering Manager, Broker Dealer (Fintech)

Location: Hybrid position based in New York City, with four days per week in the office; no required office days during the summer and winter holidays.

Base salary: $210,000–$245,000 per year in New York City, plus potential company incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Manage a team of 6–8 backend engineers building trading technology and broker-dealer systems.
• Develop engineers through coaching, feedback, performance management, and alignment of growth goals with roadmap opportunities.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, system design feedback, architectural tradeoff discussions, and partnership with senior engineers.
• Balance delivery speed with correctness, resilience, maintainability, reliability, and operational soundness.
• Improve engineering practices, decision-making, delivery effectiveness, and AI-enabled workflows, including reusable prompts, playbooks, and domain-specific copilots.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Operations, Legal, Compliance, and other stakeholders on trading and money movement infrastructure.

Requirements

• 3+ years of direct management experience in a formal engineering management role.
• 8+ years of experience building backend or distributed systems.
• Strong judgment in software design, architecture, code review, and technical tradeoffs.
• Experience leading senior engineers and mature, high-performing engineering teams.
• Experience in regulated systems, financial infrastructure, trading, custody, ledgers, money movement, or other high-reliability backend domains.
• Ability to work from the New York City office four days per week in a hybrid arrangement.

Nice to have

• Experience adopting AI-enabled engineering practices while maintaining human review, domain expertise, and rigorous quality standards.
• Experience identifying high-friction engineering workflows and redesigning them with AI to create measurable leverage.
