Consultant, Governance & Controls

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid arrangement with 1–3 days per week on-site and remaining days remote

What you will do

• Support governance activities and control management across the Legal function.
• Conduct planning, testing, deficiency management, and control activities to mitigate operational risk and potential financial loss.
• Review Financial Process Controls, Operational Process Controls, and Risk and Control Matrices results.
• Maintain documented internal control structures, policies, procedures, and process records.
• Analyze issues, identify root causes, and support remediation and continuous process improvement.
• Collaborate with risk management, compliance, process owners, accountable officers, and internal and external auditors.

Requirements

• Experience in analysis, reporting, problem solving, and communication.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Power BI skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to communicate complex information clearly.
• Strong relationship management, collaboration, and influencing skills.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada and, where applicable, a valid work or study permit.

Nice to have

• Experience with governance, risk, and compliance tools such as eGRC or Archer.
