Manager, Mechanical Engineering R&D (Semiconductor)

Location: Round Rock, Texas, United States; based at the Round Rock facility.

What you will do

• Lead a mechanical engineering team developing, verifying, and deploying semiconductor delivery system products for solid and liquid ALD and CVD precursors.
• Guide products through the full lifecycle from concept and design to validation, manufacturing release, and customer deployment.
• Drive mechanical design decisions for ultra-clean vacuum environments, thermal management, gas delivery, purge performance, thermal cycling, contamination control, and corrosive chemistries.
• Collaborate with systems, electrical, controls, materials, manufacturing, supply chain, marketing, field service, and customer teams.
• Work with domestic and international contract manufacturers on design, testing, qualification, continuous improvement, and high-volume manufacturing.
• Manage intellectual property, product development deliverables, engineering resources, customer requirements, and professional development for the engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
• 8+ years of mechanical engineering experience, including 3+ years in technical leadership or people management.
• Direct experience designing semiconductor processing equipment, preferably ALD, CVD, or related vacuum-based deposition tools.
• Background in precision mechanical design, vacuum systems and leak integrity, thermal management, heat transfer, and materials selection for corrosive and high-temperature environments.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or NX, plus engineering analysis methods.
• Experience transitioning R&D designs to high-volume manufacturing and knowledge of semiconductor standards, safety requirements, and cleanliness protocols.
