Summer 2027 Internship - Chemical Engineering

Hourly pay: $30–$40 per hour, plus a monthly housing stipend and eligible overtime pay.

What you will do

• Design, instrument, and build laboratory capabilities supporting advanced enrichment technology.
• Perform isotopic analysis and trace element detection using ICP-MS, TIMS, and SIMS.
• Support chemical process monitoring and analytical chemistry for nuclear fuel cycle materials.
• Develop and validate sample preparation, digestion, and separation methods for nuclear material analysis.
• Interpret mass spectrometry results and collaborate with process engineers and operations support to optimize facility operations.
• Support projects focused on fuel cycle efficiency and waste minimization while following radiation and chemical safety protocols.

Requirements

• Current undergraduate or graduate student pursuing Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related degree.
• Familiarity with mass spectrometry techniques such as ICP-MS, TIMS, or SIMS.
• Basic proficiency in wet chemistry, including sample digestion, titration, and precipitation.
• Strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and willingness to learn in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends when necessary.
