Systems Administrator, Farnborough

Location: Office-based in Farnborough, United Kingdom. The role requires eligibility for UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements, including applicable residency requirements, and the right to work in the United Kingdom. Minimum SC clearance is required. Some weekend work for regular software patching and rare on-call work may be required.

What you will do

• Maintain project support environments and ensure the availability of facilities required for contracted support and change activities.
• Provide access to project support environments and internal system help desk support.
• Plan and maintain administration and maintenance work schedules and complete system administration backlog tasks.
• Monitor and report on environment performance while maintaining system availability.
• Manage backups and restoration processes to protect data from loss.
• Support starters and leavers, equipment moves, software licensing, and regular software patching.

Requirements

• Minimum SC security clearance and eligibility to meet UK Government and contractual personnel security requirements.
• Active Directory experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Server suites, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and WSUS software updates.
• Experience with VMware, VEEAM backups, and SQL databases.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, static networking, Aruba ProCurve switches, and patching.
• Experience maintaining software solutions across different hardware platforms.

Nice to have

• Customer-facing experience and experience managing hardware and software assets.
• IBM Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest experience.
• Software licence management and printer management experience.
• PowerShell, scripting, Windows Defender, and Trellix antivirus knowledge.
• Experience configuring and modifying commercial off-the-shelf hardware and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
