AMPA Systems Administrator, Farnborough (Microsoft Server/Linux/Virtualization): Maintaining the project support environment for the AMPA mission-planning programme with an accent on system availability, user access, backups, patching, and network administration. Focus on supporting secure RAF and foreign air-force systems, monitoring performance, restoring data, and managing weekend maintenance and occasional on-call operations.
Location: Office-based in Farnborough, United Kingdom. Applicants must be UK nationals with no caveats or dual nationality and hold a minimum of SC clearance.

delivers and supports the Advanced Mission Planning Aid (AMPA) programme and associated software products used by the RAF and foreign air forces.
What you will do
- Maintain the AMPA project support environment and provide the computing facilities required by the delivery team.
- Manage user access and provide internal system help desk support to AMPA staff.
- Schedule and perform system administration, maintenance, patching, and equipment-move activities.
- Monitor and report on environment performance, availability, and service quality.
- Implement backup and restoration processes to protect project data.
- Support software licensing, including obtaining license quotations; perform some weekend patching and occasional on-call work.
Requirements
- Minimum SC security clearance and UK nationality with no caveats or dual nationality.
- Experience administering Active Directory and Microsoft Server environments.
- Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, WSUS, VMware, and Veeam backups.
- Knowledge of SQL databases, TCP/IP, static networking, Aruba ProCurve switches, and network patching.
- Experience maintaining software solutions across different hardware platforms.
Nice to have
- Customer-facing experience and experience managing hardware and software assets.
- IBM Rational ClearCase and ClearQuest experience.
- Software license management, printer management, and Microsoft Office knowledge.
- PowerShell, scripting, Windows Defender, and Trellix antivirus experience.
- Experience configuring and modifying commercial off-the-shelf hardware.
