Offshore Operations Leader (AUV)

Location: Based in, or willing to relocate to, the United Kingdom; right to work in the UK without a visa or work permit required. Regular UK travel and occasional European travel are required, with travel up to 80%.

What you will do

• Oversee UK marine survey jobs delivered by hirify.global-trained contractor crews against operational, safety, and data-quality standards.
• Act as the primary escalation point during live operations, supporting go/no-go decisions and troubleshooting equipment or mission issues.
• Directly perform equipment load-outs, mission planning, deck operations, and demobilization when additional operational support is needed.
• Support practical contractor training, certification, onboarding, and assessment of crew readiness for independent operations.
• Coordinate equipment mobilization, customs and carnets, vessel arrangements, spares, and logistics for UK and European jobs.
• Maintain equipment, records, and operational feedback while improving safety, quality, training, and field procedures.

Requirements

• Direct experience operating marine technologies related to Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, ideally in commercial at-sea operations.
• Experience leading, training, or supervising maritime or offshore field crews and working with contractors or vendors.
• Ability to troubleshoot marine survey equipment remotely and make time-critical operational decisions.
• Comfort working across hands-on survey operations, remote crew oversight, training, logistics, maintenance, and minor repairs.
• Right to work in the United Kingdom without visa or work permit sponsorship.
• Ability to travel regularly, work nights away from home, meet offshore medical fitness requirements, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Certified Hydrographer or near-shore/offshore vessel operations certification.
• Experience with unmanned underwater systems, marine sensing equipment, positioning systems, and hydrographic survey software.
• Technical training development, CAD/GIS tools, mechanical fabrication, cable building, soldering, and field repairs.
• Experience with offshore contractor management, equipment logistics, customs, vessel charter, or international shipping.
