Traffic Control Technician

Location: Olathe, Kansas, USA

Salary: USD 17–26 per hour; additional compensation information lists USD 20–25 per hour based on experience.

AWP Safety provides traffic management, traffic control equipment, consultation, and traffic design services for utility, broadband, and infrastructure projects.

What you will do

• Set up, maintain, and remove advance warning signs, channelizing devices, and other traffic control equipment for simple and intermediate work zones.
• Control vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic using hand signals and a STOP/SLOW paddle.
• Review and execute temporary traffic control plans and applicable federal, state, and local standards.
• Drive company vehicles to transport equipment, trailers, and team members to work sites.
• Communicate with customers and work-site teams by radio and report potential safety issues or incidents.
• Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to Protectors.

Requirements

• Traffic Control Technician certification or more than 2,000 verifiable hours.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license without suspension or revocation.
• Excellent verbal and nonverbal communication skills.
• Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office and customer relationship management systems.
• Ability to follow safe workplace practices and perform strenuous outdoor work, including lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience in temporary traffic control, utilities, or construction.
