Communications Engineer (Networking)

Location: Regional Western Australia, based in Perth, with a 2-week-on/2-week-off FIFO roster

What you will do

• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Village Entertainment Systems and related communications infrastructure.
• Support television, satellite, IPTV, streaming, radio, internet, wireless, CCTV, and PAGA services at remote accommodation facilities.
• Analyze communication networks, monitor infrastructure performance, and resolve complex technical incidents.
• Implement technology upgrades and infrastructure projects, including TV and access-point installation or replacement.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to understand communication needs and improve service reliability.
• Maintain incident reports, configuration records, ticketed work, and standard operating procedures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Typically 5+ years of relevant industry experience, including at least 2 years in a similar role.
• Experience in infrastructure technology analysis, data analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
• Knowledge of IP networks, firewalls, wireless networking, structured cabling, and digital entertainment platforms.
• Ability to work in regional Western Australia on a 2-week-on/2-week-off FIFO roster and provide occasional FIFO backfill.
• A security installer licence is advantageous, or the ability to obtain a WA Police Security Consultant Licence.

Nice to have

• Experience with GPON networks, satellite and cable TV, or remote mine and processing camp environments.
• Basic cabling skills or certification, including SELV DC voltage systems.
• Advanced degree or certifications such as Cisco CCNA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or CompTIA Security+.
