Forward Deployed Engineer - Defence (AI)

Location: London, Greater London, England, United Kingdom. Defence programmes require UK Security Clearance; candidates must hold or be able to obtain and maintain SC/NATO clearance, typically requiring at least five years of continuous UK residence. Travel may be required.

What you will do

• Engineer full-stack, AI-based enterprise applications on the C3 AI Platform.
• Design, develop, and deploy production applications, demonstrations, and proofs-of-technology directly with customers.
• Build defence applications for predictive maintenance, digital targeting, and logistics in contested or degraded environments.
• Conduct design and code reviews, troubleshoot applications, and improve software quality and architecture.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead technical deep-dives, product demonstrations, and customer training.
• Document applications, identify technical risks, and collaborate with product management and engineering on product improvements.

Requirements

• UK Security Clearance eligibility, with the ability to hold or obtain and maintain SC/NATO clearance.
• Bachelor’s or MSc degree in STEM or a comparable field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience with object-oriented programming languages.
• Strong communication, analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to travel as needed.

Nice to have

• PhD in STEM or a comparable field.
• Experience deploying enterprise-scale applications.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Python, and Git or other version-control software.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Redux, Vue, Backbone, or Angular.
