Forward Deployed Engineer - Defence (AI)

Location: London, Greater London, England, United Kingdom. The role supports UK and European defence programmes and requires candidates to hold, or be able to obtain and maintain, UK SC/NATO Security Clearance; eligibility typically requires five years of continuous UK residence.

What you will do

• Engineer and deploy full-stack, AI-based enterprise applications on the hirify.global Platform.
• Work directly with customers, data scientists, software engineers, and subject matter experts to define analytics capabilities.
• Design and deliver applications supporting predictive maintenance, digital targeting, and logistics in defence environments.
• Conduct design and code reviews, troubleshoot applications, and improve software quality and architecture.
• Lead technical deep-dives, product demonstrations, customer training, and technical documentation.
• Identify technical risks, develop mitigation strategies, and collaborate with product management and engineering on product improvements.

Requirements

• UK SC/NATO Security Clearance is required or must be obtainable and maintainable.
• Typically, at least five years of continuous UK residence is required for clearance eligibility.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in STEM or a comparable field.
• At least five years of professional software development experience with object-oriented programming languages.
• Strong verbal and written communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, organization, and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel as needed and work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• PhD in STEM or a comparable field.
• Experience deploying enterprise-scale applications.
• Software development expertise with JavaScript and Python.
• Experience with Git or other version control software.
• Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React, Redux, Vue, Backbone, or Angular.
