Location: Onsite in Long Beach, California, United States. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Salary: $147,600–$209,520 per year for the Senior EMI-EMC Test Engineer role.

What you will do

  • Implement tailored MIL-STD-461 test methods and requirements at the onsite EMC facility and remote test locations.
  • Develop EMI-EMC test procedures and methodologies for spacecraft and components.
  • Perform EMI-EMC development and qualification testing for spacecraft and flight hardware.
  • Measure bonding resistance, shielding effectiveness, magnetic and electric field strength, and RF voltage and current.
  • Manage test equipment, facilities, scheduling, and calibration processes.
  • Explain the purpose of EMC testing and its relationship to human-rated spacecraft to engineers and leaders.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related STEM discipline.
  • At least 4 years of experience in an EMI/EMC testing role.
  • Deep understanding of MIL-STD-461, DO-160, CISPR, or similar EMC standards.
  • Must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing under U.S. export control requirements.
  • Willingness to work overtime or weekends during critical mission milestones.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lb unassisted.

Nice to have

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, physics, or a related STEM discipline.
  • Experience with spectrum analyzers, power meters, signal generators, oscilloscopes, probes, waveform generators, and resistance meters.
  • Experience with spacecraft or flight hardware in a cleanroom or payload integration environment.
  • Experience automating test equipment with TILE!, ELEKTRA, or Python.
  • Strong accountability, integrity, communication, and teaching skills.
