TL;DR
Hardware Test Engineer (Aerospace): Building and operating integrated spacecraft test environments, test racks, and avionics validation systems with an accent on hardware integration, RF testing, and environmental qualification. Focus on troubleshooting flight hardware, executing automated spacecraft tests, and leading cross-functional avionics test campaigns.

Location: Los Angeles, United States. The role is based around in-person collaboration at the Playa Vista office and requires the candidate to be a U.S. Person under ITAR requirements.

Salary: $110,000–$165,000 annual base salary, excluding additional benefits.

hirify.global is a fast-growing aerospace startup that manufactures satellite buses at scale using software, vertical integration, and manufacturing-focused hardware.

What you will do

  • Build, configure, maintain, and document component-level and bus-level spacecraft test racks.
  • Lead hardware integration activities including harnessing, fixturing, rack integration, and mechanical/electrical interface validation.
  • Troubleshoot flight hardware and test setup failures using laboratory instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, DAQ systems, VNAs, and vector signal analyzers.
  • Execute functional checkouts, acceptance testing, environmental screening, integrated system validation, and spacecraft test automation.
  • Perform avionics and RF validation for antennas, radios, transceivers, GNSS systems, RF amplifiers, switches, couplers, and power dividers.
  • Lead avionics test projects, coordinate electrical, mechanical, RF, and systems engineering teams, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in aerospace hardware or electronics testing.
  • Hands-on experience with laboratory instrumentation, hardware bring-up, integrated electrical systems, and test setup troubleshooting.
  • Experience with avionics hardware and embedded communication protocols including UART, SPI, CAN, and I2C.
  • Strong understanding of hardware integration and validation workflows, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Person, defined as a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder, in accordance with ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience testing spacecraft, launch vehicles, or flight electronics.
  • Familiarity with RF communications systems, RF laboratory equipment, coaxial cable selection, and RF interconnect characterization.
  • Experience with environmental and vibration testing, PCB design, hardware prototyping, sensor functional tests, leak checks, or avionics channelization.
  • Basic Python or scripting experience for test support and automation.
  • Experience in fast-paced aerospace production or integration environments.
