Senior Phased Array Test Engineer

Location: Tempe, Arizona; site-based role with work from a hirify.global office or work location at least 3 days per week

Salary: $141,500–$224,000 annually. For specific locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $176,000–$264,000 annually.

What you will do

• Lead RF test development and validation for space-based phased array communications payloads.
• Develop RF test architectures and validation strategies for beamforming, calibration, and integrated payload performance.
• Design automated solutions for radiation-pattern measurement, conducted RF validation, and over-the-air characterization.
• Develop Python-based automation to control units under test, instrumentation, and data systems.
• Analyze RF performance data and drive root-cause investigations for gain, linearity, noise, phase coherence, and beam-steering issues.
• Collaborate with design, systems engineering, firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams to support environmental testing and production scalability.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in RF testing and validation.
• Experience with space-based or high-reliability phased array systems, such as satellite or radar systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Deep understanding of antenna arrays, beamforming, and RF signal chains.
• Experience with spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers and generators, and network analyzers, plus near-field and far-field over-the-air testing.
• U.S. citizenship required; ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice to have

• Experience with active electronically steered arrays and digital beamforming.
• Experience with compact-range or near-field measurement systems and large-scale array calibration.
• Experience supporting environmental qualification testing of spaceflight RF hardware.
• Experience transitioning RF test solutions from engineering development into production.
