TL;DR
Staff Launch Fluids Engineer (Aerospace) (Propellant and Gas Infrastructure): Designing, fabricating, operating, and maintaining Terran R launch pad and support facilities with an accent on fluid system design, flow and heat-transfer analysis, pipe stress, and commissioning. Focus on designing complex propellant and gas infrastructure, solving multidisciplinary launch-site engineering problems, and supporting the safe operation of cryogenic, high-pressure, and flammable fluid systems.

Location: On-site in Cape Canaveral, Florida, United States. Successful candidates must pass a US government-administered background check to obtain clearance for on-site work at a government partner location.

Salary: $150,000–$226,000 USD annually, plus equity.

What you will do

  • Design, fabricate, operate, and maintain Terran R launch pad and support facilities.
  • Design propellant and gas infrastructure, including fluid systems, process and instrumentation diagrams, component lists, fabrication drawings, and work instructions.
  • Perform modeling, flow analysis, heat-transfer analysis, and pipe stress analysis.
  • Supervise facility construction activation, commissioning, and initial operations.
  • Solve technically challenging multidisciplinary problems under program pressures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of full-cycle design engineering experience, including analysis, build, and test.
  • Fundamental knowledge of incompressible and compressible flow, heat transfer, and pipe stress.
  • Strong project lifecycle and project management experience.
  • Hands-on hardware build experience and a proven record of technical problem-solving.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills for leading discussions on complex technical topics.

Nice to have

  • Experience safely operating high-pressure gas, cryogenic fluids, flammable liquids and gases, and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of launch vehicle ground support equipment and operations, including cryogenic tanks, pumps, valves, and instrumentation.
  • Proficiency with ANSYS or piping analysis software such as Caesar and Bentley AutoPIPE.
  • Experience working with DOD, USAF, or NASA personnel.
  • Experience working in high-pressure environments and meeting aggressive deadlines.
