Design Director (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA. In-office policy requires four days per week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office; a fully remote program is also available depending on eligibility and location.

Salary: $242,000–$335,000 base salary annually, plus bonus, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Set the design vision and quality bar across Spending, Savings, and Investing products.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of product designers.
• Apply visual and interaction design expertise to raise product quality and empower designers.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leaders to shape strategy and deliver member experiences.
• Connect features and journeys into a cohesive product experience and longer-term design vision.
• Use research, customer insights, data, and experimentation to guide design decisions and advance design systems and critique practices.

Requirements

• Experience leading and developing high-performing product design teams working on complex consumer-facing digital products.
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual and interaction design craft.
• Experience creating and delivering design visions across multiple products, journeys, or connected experiences.
• Deep product design expertise, with the ability to move between high-level strategy and detailed execution.
• Experience partnering with senior Product and Engineering leaders to influence strategy and deliver customer and business outcomes.
• Strong communication, coaching, feedback, critique, and talent-development skills.
