Facilities HVAC Technician IV - Senior Lead (Aerospace)

Location: Onsite at Firefly’s rocket production and test facility in Briggs, Texas, north of Cedar Park. ITAR requirements apply.

What you will do

• Serve as the senior technical escalation point for complex HVAC, refrigeration, controls, BAS, and mechanical system failures.
• Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, install, and optimize commercial and industrial HVAC systems from approximately 5 to 100+ tons.
• Lead root cause analysis and root cause corrective action for significant or recurring failures.
• Support preventive and predictive maintenance, equipment criticality assessments, reliability improvements, spare-parts planning, and CMMS documentation.
• Provide technical oversight for installations, replacements, retrofits, capital projects, commissioning, equipment acceptance, and contractors.
• Mentor HVAC Technicians I–III and provide senior technical support during the required after-hours on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive commercial or industrial HVAC experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Advanced hands-on experience with HVAC systems ranging from approximately 5 to 100+ tons, including refrigeration, airflow, psychrometrics, electrical systems, controls, and HVAC sequences of operation.
• Ability to troubleshoot mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, and control failures using schematics, meters, gauges, BAS data, and diagnostic equipment.
• Experience leading complex troubleshooting, providing technical guidance, and performing RCA/RCCA with permanent corrective actions.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required, along with the ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, control diagrams, and specifications.
• Ability to work onsite in Briggs, Texas, comply with ITAR requirements, work overtime and weekends, and participate in an after-hours on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Experience in aerospace, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, laboratory, or test facilities.
• Advanced BAS troubleshooting and programming experience with Trane, Carrier, Daikin, Johnson Controls, Siemens, or Honeywell platforms.
• Experience with chillers, chilled-water or hydronic/glycol systems, process cooling, clean rooms, controlled environments, and industrial process systems.
• Experience with commissioning, contractor oversight, CMMS, RCA/RCCA documentation, and reliability or lifecycle planning.
• Plumbing, general mechanical, or powered industrial equipment experience.
