Principal Aviation & Maritime Safety Systems Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Define system requirements, concepts, and architectures for next-generation aviation and maritime safety communication services.
• Design hybrid LEO-GEO satellite communication networks and support extensions for urban air mobility.
• Conduct system engineering trade-off studies and create detailed design specifications and supplier Statements of Work.
• Manage suppliers through implementation, verification, and change management of safety service infrastructure.
• Support technical business cases, commercial service introduction, and development of new aviation and maritime products.
• Collaborate with avionics manufacturers, aircraft manufacturers, ESA, air traffic communication providers, and industry standards groups.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Communications Science, or equivalent, with 5+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Technical fluency in telecommunications, including 5G architectures, 3GPP releases, and IP-based mobile networking; satellite or mobile communications experience is beneficial.
• Strong systems engineering, analytical, troubleshooting, and technology trade-off capabilities.
• Ability to build trusted relationships and work autonomously in a complex international matrix organization with third parties.
• UK Citizenship or EU (27) Citizenship.

Nice to have

• Experience with satcom networks supporting aviation or maritime safety services.
• Avionics systems development and aeronautical Air Traffic Service standards, including ICAO, ARINC, RTCA, EUROCAE, ATN, and air traffic datalink standards.
• Knowledge of IT security practices, including IPSec and PKI.
• Experience with software engineering, complex requirements capture, data analytics, and aviation or maritime datalink systems.
