Systems Engineer – Project Engineer IV (Aerospace)

Location: Folsom, California, or remote from Colorado; approximately 10% travel required. Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an active U.S. DoD Secret Clearance.

Salary: $125,700–$173,700 USD in California; $119,415–$165,015 USD in Nevada.

What you will do

• Lead large, multi-phase, and multi-contract defense and aerospace programs as chief project engineer or senior technical lead.
• Define system architecture, integration, verification, technical baselines, and configuration management strategies.
• Oversee engineering execution across Integrated Product Teams, subcontractors, and suppliers while managing technical, cost, and schedule compliance.
• Lead major design and integration reviews, including SRR, PDR, CDR, and TRR, and monitor technical performance and readiness.
• Act as the primary engineering interface for executive management and DoD customers, including technical interchange meetings and milestone reviews.
• Develop risk and opportunity management frameworks, support proposals and cost estimation, and improve engineering processes and best practices.

Requirements

• Active or obtainable U.S. DoD Secret Clearance required.
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in project engineering, systems engineering, or program-level technical leadership, or an accepted equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience leading large-scale DoD or MDA programs through concept development, verification, qualification, and delivery.
• Experience as a Control Account Manager under EVMS-compliant contracts and with complex system integration and verification.
• Deep knowledge of DoD acquisition frameworks, DoDI 5000-series processes, and MIL-STD systems engineering practices.
• Strong leadership, communication, technical judgment, trade analysis, project planning, and configuration control skills.

Nice to have

• Background in propulsion systems, flight vehicle integration, or complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience leading customer engagements, proposal efforts, and engineering process improvement initiatives.
