Senior Systems Engineer (Communication & Sensing Systems)

Location: Carlsbad, California, United States. US citizenship and an active US Secret or Top Secret clearance are required. Travel up to 25% may be required.

Salary: $180,500–$285,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $224,500–$336,500 annually.

What you will do

• Lead system-level design and analysis for advanced communication and sensing systems across diverse mission scenarios.
• Develop and validate algorithms for signal processing, control theory, system optimization, communications, and sensing.
• Drive waveform design and adaptation for emerging technologies and mission-critical requirements.
• Translate mission objectives into technical solutions aligned with system requirements and performance goals.
• Implement algorithms in firmware and software, and participate in system bring-up, integration, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
• Collaborate with systems engineering, requirements, firmware, software, analysis, and integration and test teams from concept through deployment.

Requirements

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, with emphasis on Control Theory, Signal Processing, and/or Digital Communications.
• 10+ years of experience in algorithmic system design, modeling, and deployment for complex systems.
• Programming proficiency in C++, C, MATLAB, and Python.
• Deep expertise in RF systems and waveform design, including trade studies and performance analysis.
• Experience performing system-level analysis and translating high-level requirements into actionable technical designs.
• Active US Secret or Top Secret clearance and US citizenship required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with processors, memory, FPGAs, CPLDs, microcontrollers, and networking interfaces.
• Familiarity with requirements flow-down, verification, and validation.
• Experience integrating hardware, software, and algorithmic systems across geographically distributed teams.
• Experience with modeling and simulation tools for trade studies and performance optimization.
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI or SAP.
