TL;DR
Principal Signal Processing Engineer (RF/Radar): Designing, prototyping, integrating, and validating advanced RF, radar, electronic warfare, and spectrum-awareness capabilities for autonomous ground platforms with an accent on pulsed-radar processing, time-varying RF phenomenology, and real-world sensor data. Focus on implementing detection, tracking, geolocation, beamforming, and interference-mitigation algorithms under field, hardware, and low-latency constraints.

Location: Clarksburg, Maryland, United States

Salary: $230,000–$290,000 per year, plus equity in most full-time roles

Company

hirify.global develops autonomous ground-movement systems for defense and industrial applications, including ground autonomy solutions for the U.S. Department of Defense.

What you will do

  • Develop advanced signal-processing algorithms for RF sensing, spectrum awareness, electronic warfare, and radar, with emphasis on pulsed radar and time-varying RF signals.
  • Build radar and RF sensing products such as range-Doppler maps, spectrograms, channelized data products, pulse descriptor words, pulse-train observables, and geolocation outputs.
  • Prototype and validate algorithms in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar tools, then transition them into deployed systems.
  • Analyze field-collected RF data from laboratory, vehicle, and operational environments to characterize and improve performance.
  • Collaborate with RF, embedded software, autonomy, systems, hardware, and integration engineers to deploy capabilities on autonomous ground vehicles.
  • Support field testing, demonstrations, experimentation, operational validation, and integration with COTS, GOTS, SDR, radar, EW, and SIGINT systems.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience developing signal-processing algorithms for RF, radar, communications, EW, SIGINT, sonar, or related sensing systems.
  • Strong knowledge of DSP fundamentals, detection theory, estimation, filtering, spectral analysis, sampling theory, modulation, synchronization, and statistical signal processing.
  • Hands-on experience moving algorithms from analysis or simulation into working software and validating them against measured sensor data.
  • Programming experience with Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar languages for algorithm development, data analysis, and test automation.
  • Experience with pulsed emitters, signal identification, tracking, and geolocation, plus the ability to work cross-functionally with RF, software, systems, autonomy, and hardware engineers.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

  • Experience with radar processing including range-Doppler processing, pulse compression, matched filtering, integration, CFAR detection, clutter mitigation, waveform analysis, MIMO radar, SAR, ISAR, GMTI, or track-before-detect.
  • Experience in EMSO, EW, SIGINT, ELINT, COMINT, spectrum monitoring, direction finding, or electronic support systems.
  • Experience with antenna arrays, beamforming, adaptive arrays, angle-of-arrival estimation, interferometry, phased-array processing, or TDOA/FDOA/AOA geolocation.
  • Experience with SDRs, high-rate digitizers, RFSoC platforms, radar front ends, real-time processing, GPU technologies, or embedded and edge deployment.
  • Advanced degree or experience in fast-paced, small-team, or field-focused development environments.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time employment with equity included in most high-demand roles.
  • Three premium healthcare plan options, including an HSA-eligible plan, with hirify.global covering 80% of premiums for employees and dependents.
  • Company-paid life, AD&D, and short- and long-term disability insurance.
  • 20 days of accrued paid time off annually and a generous holiday calendar including a December winter break.
  • At least seven weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • $9,000 annual tuition reimbursement or professional development stipend, plus a 401(k) plan with company matching up to 4%.
