Senior Lead Software Engineer (Java/AWS)

Location: United States; hybrid work with in-office attendance 2 days per week. The role is based out of the Kansas home office or hirify.global offices in New York or New Jersey.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 annual, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of scalable, secure applications using Java, Spring Boot, AWS, and modern engineering practices.
• Design, deploy, and support microservices-based applications, including Docker containerization across AWS and on-premise environments.
• Drive modernization of legacy applications toward microservices, REST APIs, containerization, and cloud-native platforms.
• Collaborate with product and business teams on strategic planning, product roadmaps, and technical roadmaps.
• Improve CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and operational reliability.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship while promoting software design, code quality, security, and Agile best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent education and experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership responsibilities.
• Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, EKS, ECS, Fargate, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and relational databases.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and practical engineering use cases, along with strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of SQL and Oracle PL/SQL.
