Production Underwriter (Commercial Insurance)

Location: On-site at 1 Liberty Plaza, New York, NY, United States; regional travel is expected.

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 base compensation per year.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain relationships with retail agents and carrier partners to generate business and expand placement opportunities.
• Build and manage a profitable, diversified, and high-quality commercial insurance book of business.
• Evaluate, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal submissions, including loss information and risk characteristics.
• Prepare quotes, proposals, and carrier submissions while negotiating coverage, terms, conditions, and pricing.
• Provide coverage consultation, technical guidance, and responsive agency service.
• Coordinate policy servicing, support workflow standards, and mentor less experienced team members.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of wholesale insurance underwriting, brokerage, or related commercial insurance experience.
• Demonstrated success in business development and production underwriting.
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, underwriting principles, risk analysis, sales, negotiation, and relationship management.
• Working knowledge of agency management and underwriting systems, with strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Property & Casualty license or willingness to obtain it within 90 days is required.

Nice to have

• Professional designations such as AU, CIC, CPCU, or CRIS, or progress toward one.
