Backend Engineer, AI Engineering: Duo Chat (AI)

Location: Remote in Canada or the United States

Salary: $115,200–$194,400 USD per year for United States residents

What you will do

• Build secure, tested, and performant features for hirify.global Duo Chat.
• Implement agentic Python flows with LangGraph through the Flow Registry and Duo Workflow Service.
• Integrate Chat capabilities with the hirify.global Rails monolith and its GraphQL API.
• Improve code quality, system performance, reliability, debugging, and testing foundations.
• Collaborate with Product Management, User Experience, and Frontend specialists.
• Participate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 weekday, weekend, and occasional night on-call rotations.

Requirements

• Professional experience building and testing production services with Python.
• Working proficiency with Ruby on Rails or willingness to learn it.
• Experience or strong interest in large language models, prompting, tool calling, evaluation, and non-deterministic system failure modes.
• Experience designing APIs, optimizing performance, and integrating third-party services.
• Experience with LangGraph, LangChain, or a comparable agent orchestration framework, plus GraphQL and RSpec.
• Ability to work remotely from Canada or the United States in a largely asynchronous environment.
