Senior AI Engineer

Location: Remote-first within the United States; restricted to US citizens or lawful permanent residents. Preference for candidates in Boston, Seattle, Los Angeles, or other cities with hirify.global offices.

Salary: $143,666.72–$215,500.08 per year, plus potential annual incentive and long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Design, build, and iterate on LLM-powered agents for hardware engineering workflows, including risk detection, coordination, and structured deliverables.
• Own the agent orchestration layer and evaluate, extend, or replace frameworks as new approaches emerge.
• Implement tool-use patterns and integrations with project management, CAD/PLM, communication, database, and API systems.
• Develop prompts, chains, retrieval strategies, multi-agent planning, delegation, and inter-agent communication.
• Build evaluation and observability systems covering tracing, cost, latency, automated benchmarks, and output quality.
• Develop streaming agent interfaces and collaborate with frontend and backend engineers on AI-powered product features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of production software engineering experience, including 2+ years delivering LLM applications or agent systems to market.
• Production Python experience and strong software engineering fundamentals, including architecture, testing, version control, and code review.
• Hands-on experience deploying agentic systems with LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, or custom orchestration.
• Strong knowledge of prompt engineering, function and tool calling, RAG, context windows, token economics, and multi-agent systems.
• Experience integrating LLM features with APIs, databases, and third-party tools, and operating asynchronous background task pipelines.
• Must be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident due to exposure to export controlled information.

Nice to have

• Experience with LangChain DeepAgent or LangGraph, LLM evaluation frameworks, vector databases, and embedding pipelines.
• Experience with model serving, fine-tuning, model routing, or secure authentication and authorization patterns.
• Background in B2B SaaS, project management tools, hardware development, or engineering workflows.
• TypeScript and React fluency for streaming agent interfaces.
