Regulatory Product Counsel (Fintech)

Location: United States; hybrid and remote options listed — offices in Kansas City, New York, San Francisco, and Sunnyvale.

Salary: $150,000–$200,000 annually depending on geographic zone, experience, and qualifications.

What you will do

• Provide legal and regulatory guidance for banking-as-a-service and payments initiatives.
• Advise on consumer and commercial lending, deposits, payments, privacy, information security, crypto, and money transmission matters.
• Assess how product changes affect legal risk, operational controls, partner obligations, and stakeholder approvals.
• Track regulatory developments and translate them into practical internal guidance.
• Build scalable legal review processes, playbooks, and documentation.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Compliance, FinCrimes, Risk, Operations, Finance, Program Management, and Legal.

Requirements

• J.D. and active membership in good standing in at least one state bar.
• Approximately 6+ years of relevant experience in banking, fintech, payments, consumer financial services, or regulatory practice.
• Ability to interpret and apply banking and payments laws to novel products, partner models, and technology-enabled services.
• Experience reviewing consumer-facing product terms, disclosures, policies, or workflows.
• Strong legal judgment, analytical rigor, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Comfort working in a fast-moving environment and using AI tools to improve productivity and accuracy.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with ACH, wires, card rails, FedNow, and RTP.
• Experience with stablecoin- or crypto-enabled payment programs.
• Experience with prepaid accounts and debit-card programs, including disclosures and error-resolution rights.
