Senior Counsel (FinTech)

Location: United States (Remote); East Coast preferred

Salary: $165,000–$220,000 USD annually, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including vendor, SaaS, partnership, NDA, and data processing agreements.
• Advise on payments, FinTech initiatives, payment processing, money transmission, and financial services partnerships.
• Support employment matters across the US, Balkans, and UK, including hiring, terminations, workplace investigations, policies, and workforce relations.
• Advise on IP strategy, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, product development, privacy, data, and regulatory compliance.
• Manage litigation and disputes, corporate governance documents, M&A workstreams, and due diligence.
• Build legal policies, contract workflows, outside counsel processes, and responsible AI governance for the legal function.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school and active bar admission in New York or another US jurisdiction.
• 5–10 years of legal experience, including significant experience at a top-tier law firm or highly regarded boutique.
• Experience or strong interest in complex commercial agreements and cross-functional legal counseling.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and communicate legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers.
• Experience in-house at a technology company is strongly preferred.

Nice to have

• International employment law experience, IP prosecution or litigation, and familiarity with GDPR or CCPA.
• Experience in food tech, marketplace, or platform businesses.
• Experience advising product and engineering teams.
• Familiarity with payment processing, money transmission, or financial services regulations.
