Senior Lawyer (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, CA; Remote, USA

Salary: $210,000–$300,000 annual base salary plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Structure and launch bank-fintech partnerships across payments, credit, accounts, cards, lending, wallets, and global money movement.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex customer and third-party partnership agreements end to end.
• Advise product, business, and fintech partners from ideation through launch, balancing commercial objectives with regulatory requirements.
• Build regulatory frameworks covering banking partnerships, payments, lending, money transmission, and consumer finance.
• Partner with Engineering to design flow-of-funds models and build legal tooling using AI and automation.
• Develop scalable legal processes, template agreements, and disclosure packages for partnership launches.

Requirements

• Currently licensed in a U.S. state and hold a J.D. or equivalent.
• 7–15+ years of experience practicing law, ideally including law firm and in-house experience at a fintech or financial institution.
• Deep expertise in banking infrastructure, embedded finance, consumer and commercial banking, payments, cards, and lending.
• Ability to independently draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements and partnership structures.
• Comprehensive knowledge of NACHA, BSA/AML, TILA, Reg Z, Reg E, ECOA, UDAAP, FCRA, state usury and licensing laws, federal preemption, and true lender risk.
• Ability to manage high-volume, cross-functional work and make fast, well-supported risk decisions in ambiguous legal environments.

• Experience structuring bank-fintech lending partnerships.
• Familiarity with loan sale, participation, and servicing agreements.
• Experience with cross-border money movement, global payment rails, and multi-currency wallets.
