Automation Engineering Technician (Manufacturing Automation)

What you will do

• Install, commission, optimize, and support automation systems in black and clear injection molding areas.
• Install and optimize automation for ferrule posting processes.
• Monitor automated processes, inspect output, and adjust systems to maintain quality and consistency.
• Provide first-line troubleshooting, perform preventive maintenance and basic repairs, and coordinate escalated vendor or engineering repairs.
• Assist with PLC/HMI program loading, testing, and diagnostics in coordination with controls engineers.
• Read technical documentation and 2D/3D CAD drawings, train operators and technicians, and support automation projects from concept through implementation.

Requirements

• 2–4 years of hands-on experience in a medium-volume manufacturing environment.
• Mechanical aptitude and experience maintaining automated equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
• Familiarity with PLCs and HMIs, including basic program loading, testing, and diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of 2D/3D CAD, schematics, and assembly drawings.
• Technical education in mechatronics, mechanical engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, or a related field is preferred.
• Ability to lift or move up to 25 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally, with good visual acuity and manual dexterity; willingness to work around machining fluids, adhesives, and particulate.

Nice to have

• Experience with injection molding automation and ferrule posting equipment.
• Troubleshooting experience with servo drives, motion systems, sensors, and vision inspection equipment.
• Experience improving work instructions, SOPs, and technical documentation.
• Knowledge of root-cause analysis, corrective actions, 5S, Kaizen, or Lean methods.
• Experience coordinating vendor repairs and automation upgrades.
