Electrical Controls Technician - Journeyman Electrician (Automation)

Location: Newark, Delaware, United States. Day work position at the Tralee Park manufacturing site.

What you will do

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, robotics, servo drives, VFDs, sensors, actuators, and electrical control systems.
• Diagnose faults using schematics, technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and industrial instrumentation.
• Support equipment upgrades, installations, commissioning, process improvements, and root cause analysis.
• Respond to equipment downtime, document repairs and system changes, and improve production reliability and efficiency.
• Follow safety and lockout/tagout procedures, develop maintenance practices, and train operators and junior technicians.

Requirements

• Associate degree or technical certification in automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in automated manufacturing.
• Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting knowledge, including Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems.
• Experience with robotics or automation systems and an understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and controls.
• Familiarity with HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP and Profibus.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding manufacturing environment, wear required PPE, and lift up to 35 lbs.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-speed manufacturing or processing industries.
• Exposure to predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis and thermography.
• Basic programming or scripting skills for automation systems.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Electrical or automation certification.
