Electrical Controls Technician - Journeyman Electrician

What you will do

• Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on automated manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair PLCs, HMIs, robotics, servo drives, VFDs, sensors, actuators, instrumentation, and electrical controls.
• Diagnose equipment faults using schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools.
• Support system upgrades, equipment installations, and commissioning of new systems.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams on process improvements and root cause analysis.
• Document repairs and system changes, follow lockout/tagout and safety procedures, and train operators and junior technicians.

Requirements

• Associate degree or technical certification in automation, mechatronics, electrical engineering technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience, preferably in automated manufacturing.
• Strong PLC programming and troubleshooting knowledge, including Allen-Bradley or Siemens systems.
• Experience with robotics or automation systems and understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and controls.
• Familiarity with HMIs, SCADA systems, and industrial networks such as Ethernet/IP and Profibus.
• Ability to read technical drawings and manuals, perform physical work in a manufacturing environment, wear required PPE, and lift up to 35 pounds.

Nice to have

• Experience in high-speed manufacturing or processing industries.
• Exposure to predictive maintenance technologies such as vibration analysis and thermography.
• Basic programming or scripting skills for automation systems.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies.
• Electrical or automation certification.
