Location: San Francisco, CA; remote or hybrid available
Salary: $150,000β$240,000+ base pay per year, excluding benefits and potential equity.

is building an energy intelligence platform that combines real-time energy asset control with visibility into energy portfolios for large power consumers.
What you will do
- Design, implement, and test distributed energy resource control and telemetry applications for heterogeneous OEM hardware, sensor and actuator networks, and remote terminal units.
- Build high-performance, production-grade software for bare-metal systems and hardware-level virtualization platforms in resource- and bandwidth-constrained environments.
- Collaborate with energy solutions providers on proprietary hardware and on-premises software stacks.
- Specify over-the-air updates and remote access solutions for on-premises customer software.
- Implement security best practices for critical infrastructure and cyber-physical systems.
- Mentor junior and career-level engineers while promoting test-driven development, well-designed systems, and transparent communication.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience working directly on bare-metal applications.
- Strong programming skills in systems languages such as C, C++, Rust, or Go, plus scripting with Shell or Python.
- Advanced knowledge of communications across all layers of the OSI networking model.
- Hands-on experience with lightweight databases such as SQLite or LevelDB.
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, industrial automation software, PLCs, microcontrollers, and finite state machines.
- Extensive security experience with technologies such as public key infrastructure, encryption, cryptography, or data privacy.
Nice to have
- Bachelorβs degree or higher in a STEM field.
- Advanced Rust knowledge and experience with low-powered Intel Atom or similar processors.
- Experience with electric power systems, grid hardware, model-predictive or optimal control, robotics, or reinforcement learning.
- Knowledge of Modbus TCP, DNP3, IEC 60870, or IEC 61850 protocols.
- Experience building resilient applications for unreliable or mesh networks and battery energy storage technologies.
