Firmware/Embedded Linux Engineer (C/C++)

Salary: $123K–$210K per year plus equity

What you will do

• Own engineering work for strategic initiatives across microcontrollers, RTOS environments, embedded Linux, and application software.
• Build firmware and embedded applications in C, C++, Rust, and Python.
• Define MVPs, architecture, and implementation for integrations with third-party smart home energy devices.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, cloud, hardware, and certification teams to deliver new device features and capabilities.
• Develop functionality that improves customer value, including clean-energy and electric-vehicle charging features.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience writing software for hardware devices, primarily in Linux environments.
• Professional experience with Rust, Python, and/or C/C++.
• Strong knowledge of modern software design, multiprocessing, multithreading, and memory management.
• Experience with electrical communication interfaces including UART, I2C, and USB.
• Strong interpersonal communication, collaboration, ownership, design, code review, and mentoring skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with functional safety standards such as UL 60730, ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or UL 1998.
• Experience developing system or application software, including diagnostic command-line tools.
• Knowledge of LTE, WiFi, Thread, or Zigbee.
• Hands-on experience with electronics laboratory equipment or clean-energy hardware.
