GX Satellite Resource Engineer (Satellite Communications)

What you will do

• Configure and operate GX planning software to monitor satellite resource usage, traffic commitments, and network demand.
• Prepare satellite configurations and frequency planning changes to support projected traffic, lease services, and Global Express services.
• Analyze traffic trends and satellite loading, and help automate traffic reporting.
• Assess network capacity with business units for future traffic requirements and potential sales.
• Coordinate configuration and frequency-plan changes with NOC, RAN Operations, Satellite Control Centre, and Lease Operations teams.
• Provide out-of-hours on-call operational support.

Requirements

• Engineering degree or equivalent in mobile communications, telematics, or mobile and satellite communications.
• Understanding of VSAT systems, including iDirect and Gilat.
• Strong analytical skills and knowledge of RF, analogue and digital communications, link-budget analysis, and transmission plans.
• Strong problem-solving, organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
• Good knowledge of MS Office, server-client architectures, Windows/Linux operating systems, and database environments.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in communications engineering, preferably satellite communications.
• Experience in mission-critical, real-time operational engineering or satellite communications.
• Experience with Google Platform technologies, including BigQuery.
• Scripting experience with Python and/or Matlab.
