Field Application Engineer (Semiconductor Test)

Location: United Kingdom, with flexibility and mobility across the UK and Ireland and readiness for national and international travel.

What you will do

• Provide technical and consultative support for Tektronix and Keithley DC precision hardware, software, and service solutions.
• Develop and lead solutions for benchtop instrumentation, modular systems, integrated semiconductor characterization platforms, and automated test systems.
• Advise customers on DC I-V, C-V, pulsed I-V, low-current, leakage, breakdown, reliability, and wafer-level characterization workflows.
• Install, train, and support deployed solutions within customer workflows.
• Partner with account management, marketing, product, service, sales, and channel teams on strategic accounts, technical content, training, and competitive investigations.
• Use field and market knowledge to influence product updates and future roadmap direction.

Requirements

• Technical degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Semiconductor Physics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of precision voltage and current sourcing and measurement, DMMs, DAQ systems, SMUs, and instrument automation.
• Experience in semiconductor characterization, wafer-level testing, materials research, reliability, power semiconductors, photonics, medical research, or biosensors.
• Understanding of semiconductor device characterization methods, especially DC I-V and C-V; experience with pulsed I-V, wafer probers, switching, shielding, guarding, or high-power and ultra-low-current measurements is beneficial.
• Programming and instrumentation-control experience with Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, C++, C#, or equivalent is preferred.
• Fluent English, strong communication skills, customer focus, independent working ability, and readiness to travel across the UK, Ireland, and internationally are required.

• Advanced degree combined with research-intensive experience.
• Experience with integrated characterization systems, parameter analyzers, modular SMU/PSU platforms, wafer-level reliability, or production-oriented parametric testing.
• Hands-on troubleshooting experience with complex instruments, software, and integrated test systems.
