IC EMC Engineer (Mixed-Signal)

Location: Edinburgh, UK; onsite and mostly office- and laboratory-based. Regular attendance in the office and EMC laboratory is expected. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Edinburgh or be willing to relocate before starting employment.

What you will do

• Improve RF emissions and immunity performance of mixed-signal ICs in collaboration with IC design teams.
• Perform EMC simulations for IC, package, ASIC, and related technologies.
• Develop and execute IC EMC emissions and immunity tests.
• Conduct measurements using IEC 61967, IEC 62132, CISPR 32, CISPR 25, ISO 11452, and ISO 16750 procedures.
• Design EMC evaluation PCBs with test ICs and supporting circuitry, and use TEM cells, stripline fixtures, and immunity surface-scan systems.
• Analyse results, recommend product improvements, support customer engagements, and improve EMC design and test methodologies.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in IC EMC, RF EMC, or related EMC validation.
• Experience with automotive EMC standards, procedures, and test methods, including ISO 11452 and ISO 16750.
• Practical experience conducting EMC measurements and analysing test results.
• Understanding of system-level electromagnetic interference and the impact of IC behaviour on overall EMC compliance.
• Experience with PCB schematic capture and PCB design, plus Python, LabVIEW, or similar tools for test automation and data analysis.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of ADS and/or HyperLynx simulation tools.
• Experience with portable consumer products and mixed-signal analogue and digital design.
• Experience with ESD simulators, RF immunity amplifiers, network analysers, spectrum analysers, or GSM testers such as the CMU200.
• Practical SMT hand-soldering experience and experience producing technical documentation or supporting customers.
