Maintenance Engineering Technician (Semiconductor Manufacturing)

Location: Onsite at Fab 8 in Malta, New York, USA; flexible availability for alternating 12-hour day or night shifts is required.

Salary: $43,100–$70,600 per year.

What you will do

• Monitor, sustain, and improve semiconductor equipment and processes in the assigned manufacturing area.
• Schedule and perform preventive and corrective maintenance on assigned tool sets.
• Use mechanical, electronic, computer, and software skills to troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Monitor, control, and test equipment for manufacturing readiness and recover tools from process interruptions.
• Document equipment events and communicate equipment status and shift handoffs to lead technicians and engineers.
• Follow Fab 8 environmental, health, safety, and security procedures while collaborating with production and engineering teams.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, plus a 2-year technical degree, 2 years of relevant military experience, or 4 years of relevant electrical or mechanical experience.
• Ability to work onsite in a cleanroom environment, wear required cleanroom clothing and PPE, and comply with applicable OSHA and NIOSH requirements.
• Ability to work standing, walking, climbing, crouching, and using hand tools for most of a 12-hour shift; ability to periodically lift, pull, or carry at least 50 pounds.
• English fluency for written and verbal communication, along with basic reading, writing, computer navigation, Windows, Microsoft Office, and Outlook skills.
• Availability for alternating 12-hour shifts, including day or night shifts, working 3–4 days on alternating weeks.
• Ability to follow detailed procedures, prioritize daily work, and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or equivalent education in engineering technology, a skilled trade, or military training.
• Four or more years of direct semiconductor manufacturing experience.
• Experience reading schematics, blueprints, and electrical diagrams and troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic systems.
• Experience with statistical process control, defect troubleshooting, structured problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
• Project management, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
