Training Specialist – Fleet Specialist (Autonomous Vehicles)

Location: Dallas, Texas, United States; on-site. Occasional travel to other operational sites may be required.

What you will do

• Conduct Fleet Specialist onboarding from classroom instruction through field certification.
• Deliver structured instruction across vehicle-operator and Fleet Specialist training phases, including ridealongs and real-time field guidance.
• Teach and assess autonomous vehicle systems, onboard hardware, software interfaces, diagnostic tools, fleet support procedures, Platform Shakeout Tests, and Mixed Reality Training modules.
• Deliver refresher training and recertification after SOP changes, truck upfits, software updates, and feature releases.
• Translate engineering-driven changes into clear field instructions in coordination with Training and Dispatch leadership.
• Track trainee progress in the Daily Training Tracker and Jira, and mentor high-performing Fleet Specialists through the Senior FS Trainer program.

Requirements

• 3+ years of direct experience as a Fleet Specialist or in a technically equivalent field-operations role supporting autonomous or Class 8 vehicles.
• Hands-on ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and operate autonomous vehicle systems, onboard hardware, and software interfaces.
• Familiarity with fleet support procedures, Platform Shakeout Tests, Mixed Reality Training scenarios, and pre- and post-trip inspections.
• Experience delivering structured, safety-critical training and conducting hands-on performance assessments.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and record-keeping skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
• Passion for self-driving technologies, difficult technical problems, safety, and operational excellence.

Nice to have

• Experience with Learning Management Systems and training record administration.
• Previous technical coaching, mentorship, or formal training experience.
• Certified trainer or assessor experience, including Train-the-Trainer programs.
• Familiarity with Jira, dispatch systems, or autonomous trucking fleet-management software.
