Training Specialist – Vehicle Operator (Autonomous Vehicles)

What you will do

• Conduct new-hire onboarding for Vehicle Operators from classroom instruction through field certification.
• Deliver structured instruction, Mixed Reality Training scenarios, compliance modules, driving assessments, refresher training, and recertification.
• Conduct ridealongs and provide immediate, constructive, and documented feedback using the VO performance scale.
• Translate engineering, safety, software, SOP, and vehicle updates into clear on-road instruction.
• Track trainee progress and development activities through the Daily Training Tracker, Jira, and training documentation.
• Mentor high-performing operators through Train-the-Trainer and Demo Readiness Certification programs.

Requirements

• Minimum 3+ years of direct experience as a Vehicle Operator or in a comparable professional driving role.
• Valid CDL with a clean driving record and direct Class 8 vehicle operating experience.
• Experience delivering structured, safety-critical training and conducting hands-on, on-road performance assessments.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
• Passion for self-driving technologies, difficult operational problems, safety, and operational excellence.
• Occasional travel to other operational sites may be required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Learning Management Systems and training record administration.
• Previous formal training, coaching, or mentorship experience in technical field operations.
• Familiarity with autonomous vehicle systems, Mixed Reality Training, or Platform Shakeout procedures.
• Certified trainer or assessor experience, including Train-the-Trainer programs.
