TL;DR
Automation Engineering Support Technician - 3rd Shift (10pm - 6am) (Industrial Automation): Maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving automated manufacturing equipment for precision fiber optic connectivity products with an accent on robotics, PLC-controlled systems, machine vision, and electromechanical systems. Focus on diagnosing root causes, performing preventive maintenance, supporting equipment installations, and improving safety, throughput, repeatability, and overall equipment effectiveness.

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States; 3rd shift, 10pm–6am. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. No visa sponsorship is provided.

What you will do

  • Install, start up, maintain, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment, including robotics, PLC-controlled systems, HMIs, servo systems, vision inspection equipment, conveyors, and pneumatic devices.
  • Diagnose equipment issues, identify root causes, coordinate repairs, and minimize production downtime.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance to improve equipment reliability and extend equipment life.
  • Support equipment trials, process optimization, new automation technology implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Modify automation programs, machine parameters, and control systems under Automation Engineering direction.
  • Maintain equipment records, procedures, training materials, and documentation while collaborating with Engineering, Production, Maintenance, Quality, and external vendors.

Requirements

  • At least two years of experience supporting automated assembly equipment in a production environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electromechanical equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial robotics, PLCs, HMIs, servo motion systems, sensors, and machine vision systems.
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of industrial safety practices, including lockout/tagout and machine safety principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

Nice to have

  • Associate degree in Automation Technology, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Basic PLC programming and troubleshooting knowledge.
  • Experience with precision manufacturing, automated assembly, or inspection equipment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; CAD and industrial automation software experience.
