TL;DR

Technical Operations Specialist (Automotive): Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing manufacturing process equipment with an accent on electrical and mechanical systems. Focus on optimizing production uptime, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and managing robotic and PLC-controlled systems.

Location: Onsite in Grand Rapids/Wyoming, MI. No immigration sponsorship provided.

What you will do

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair conveyors, robots, automated equipment, and PLCs.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance activities according to schedule.
  • Plan and execute maintenance projects, including system upgrades and new installations.
  • Provide technical expertise to solve manufacturing challenges and optimize production.
  • Lead lean initiatives to identify and eliminate waste in the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and regulatory requirements (OSHA/MIOSHA).

Requirements

  • Technical degree or Four Year Apprenticeship (or equivalent experience).
  • Electrical or Mechanical Journeyman’s license, or 8+ years as a maintenance/electrician technician.
  • Experience with high-volume automotive manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of PLC, robotics, electrical/mechanical systems, and fluid power.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and perform welding.
  • Must be able to work off-shift (2nd or 3rd shift).

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of Allen Bradley ControlLogix/CompactLogix and Siemens HMI.
  • Ability to read and edit PLC programs.
  • Fanuc robotics programming and maintenance experience.
  • Welding skills (MIG, TIG, brazing, ARC).
