Machine Operator 1 (Railway Maintenance)

Location: Recruitment areas include Erie, Pennsylvania; Albany, Rome, Columbus, and Warner Robins, Georgia. The listed locations are recruitment areas rather than fixed work sites; the role requires 100% travel, including international travel, and has no fixed location.

Salary: $20.00–$21.00 per hour

What you will do

• Operate hirify.global on-track maintenance-of-way equipment and on-track vehicles under supervision.
• Inspect machines to identify defects, hazards, and changing conditions, and report findings to operators or supervisors.
• Perform common, scheduled, and instructed maintenance and repairs.
• Record parts usage and complete daily field, expense, lodging, and administrative reports.
• Lead or support job briefings and follow railway and equipment safety procedures.
• Explain gauge and HMI functions related to machine operation.

Requirements

• At least two years of demonstrated technical skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and machine operations for external applicants.
• At least two years of demonstrated ability to learn, communicate verbally and in writing, and apply best practices.
• Maintain railroad certifications, CPR/First Aid certification, and a valid driver’s license.
• Some assignments require excavator experience.
• Ability to work in variable and sometimes extreme physical conditions in railroad environments, including standing, walking, reaching, balancing, stooping, and kneeling.
• Ability to travel 100% of the time, including internationally, by any method of transportation.
