Software Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Antonio, Texas, United States, with an average of 2 days per week at the San Antonio office; schedule flexibility is required.

Salary: $100,173–$140,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement complex software capabilities for computer-based systems.
• Develop Java-based software using modern frameworks and libraries.
• Design enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices.
• Integrate Claude Code or Gemini agentic workflows into daily engineering work.
• Use autonomous agents for multi-file feature implementation, codebase refactoring, and automated unit and integration test generation.
• Guide agents across multi-repository architectures and audit generated code for security, performance, and architectural alignment.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance are required; clearance is not required on day one.
• Five years of Software Engineering experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries such as Spring or Guava; alternatively, three relevant years with a related master’s degree, or nine relevant years with a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience designing enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, microservices architecture, and object-oriented programming.
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle and standard software development practices.
• Experience with Linux and configuration management tools such as Git, Nexus, and Maven.
• Strong testing, troubleshooting, responsiveness, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines.
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently and collaboratively.
• Experience integrating advanced AI coding agents into daily software engineering workflows, including multi-file implementation, refactoring, automated testing, context management, and critical code review.
• Ability to keep up to date with emerging software development trends and technologies.

Nice to have

• Active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
• Experience using Claude Code or Gemini in daily engineering workflows and for agentic feature delivery.
• Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure.
• Experience with distributed databases, NoSQL databases, and full-text search engines such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Solr.
• Scripting experience.
• Familiarity with data lakes or data warehouses.
• Understanding of Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and GitHub Enterprise.
