Staff Software Engineer (AI)

Location: 100% remote within the United States

Salary: $100,000–$180,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead complex, cross-team engineering initiatives.
• Design and evolve large-scale software architectures and distributed systems.
• Drive operational excellence, reliability, and observability across production systems.
• Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership.
• Influence engineering culture, standards, and long-term platform modernization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• 12 or more years of professional software engineering experience.
• Deep expertise in at least one of distributed systems, cloud platforms, or large-scale data systems.
• Strong programming skills in at least one major backend language.
• Excellent system-design, architecture, communication, and technical leadership skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States; new H-1B visa petitions cannot be sponsored.

Nice to have

• Experience driving multi-year platform modernization initiatives.
• Public technical contributions such as talks, papers, or open-source software.
• Hands-on experience operating large-scale production systems.
• Experience building engineering organizations and platforms.
• Familiarity with FinOps and cost-aware engineering practices.
