Partner Engineer (AI)

Location: Hybrid in San Francisco, Montreal, New York, Seattle, or Toronto

Salary: $165K–$330K plus equity

What you will do

• Lead strategic partner integrations from technical discovery and architecture through implementation, launch, and production operation.
• Integrate search and developer-tool providers, hyperscalers, cloud marketplaces, developer platforms, and model labs with Baseten's inference platform.
• Build reusable platform capabilities for identity, provisioning, inference, model serving, metering, billing, access controls, usage attribution, and revenue sharing.
• Design APIs and system boundaries with partner engineering teams, resolve cross-company dependencies, and make architectural decisions.
• Write substantial production code, own the resulting systems, and coordinate milestones, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs across Baseten and partner teams.
• Improve integration reliability through API contracts, testing, observability, safe rollouts, and failure handling.

Requirements

• Experience designing, shipping, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production, including explaining architectural choices and how they meet customer needs at scale.
• Experience leading ambiguous engineering projects across teams while contributing substantial production code.
• Strong judgment in API design, service boundaries, and failure handling, including building systems that uphold API contracts and meet measurable service-level objectives.
• Experience turning customer, partner, or engineering-team requests into defined technical scope, explaining constraints, proposing alternatives, and documenting decisions.
• Comfort working across application code and cloud infrastructure, including debugging behavior across service boundaries.

Nice to have

• Product integrations with cloud providers, developer platforms, or other infrastructure companies.
• Experience with usage metering, marketplace infrastructure, or commerce systems supporting multi-party relationships.
• Experience with model serving or other AI infrastructure used in production.
