Embedded Software Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Hybrid role requiring work from the Carlsbad, California office three days per week; offices are also listed in Germantown, Maryland. US Citizenship and an active United States Secret Clearance are required.

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually; $174,000–$261,000 annually for specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, document, troubleshoot, and maintain security-focused embedded software for satellite terminals.
• Develop automated access controls and automate the configuration and validation of Linux security settings.
• Integrate static and dynamic security analysis tools into CI/CD pipelines and tune their policies.
• Triage security scan results and evaluate Linux controls for cybersecurity and privacy compliance.
• Create tools for managing secrets, keys, and digital certificates, and develop security test plans.
• Research security mechanisms and collaborate with software, automation, product, test, and security teams.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong C and C++ development and debugging skills on Linux.
• Experience with encryption, authentication software, and OpenSSL cryptographic libraries.
• Working knowledge of Linux security controls and proficiency with Bash and Python or Lua scripting.
• Experience with Agile and Perforce- or Git-based development environments.
• US Citizenship, an active United States Secret Clearance, and the ability to work from the Carlsbad office three days per week are required.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Linux internals, device drivers, kernel cryptography, REST APIs, JSON, and embedded HTTP/HTTPS servers.
• Experience with network security protocols, TLS, IPsec, ARM TrustZone, TPM, and secure firmware or OTA update mechanisms.
• Experience with C++17+, ARM, Power, x86, Docker, Podman, LXC, and confidential containers.
• Experience with threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
