TL;DR
Senior Embedded Security Software Engineer (Firmware Reverse Engineering): Developing and rehosting complex wireless and embedded system firmware with an accent on low-level C/C++ software, Python automation, binary analysis, and emulation. Focus on mapping undocumented architectures, modifying firmware binaries in QEMU, and translating reverse-engineering findings into functional software.

Location: Herndon, Virginia; onsite in the office daily

Salary: $128,873–$193,310 USD annually

What you will do

  • Reverse engineer complex wireless and embedded systems and contribute to forward development.
  • Perform binary and file system analysis to map undocumented target architectures.
  • Configure and modify embedded binaries for firmware rehosting in custom emulation environments.
  • Translate reverse-engineering insights into functional software and expand emulation capabilities.
  • Make technical decisions under moderate supervision using established practices and policies.

Requirements

  • Develop low-level software in C/C++ and write Python automation scripts in Linux command-line environments.
  • Perform architectural reverse engineering or control-flow analysis on firmware images using Ghidra, IDA Pro, or Binary Ninja.
  • Configure or modify embedded binaries for successful rehosting with QEMU or similar emulation frameworks.
  • Hold an active Top Secret security clearance and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI clearance.
  • Be able to work onsite at the Herndon, Virginia office every day.

Nice to have

  • Experience with Ghidra or Binary Ninja APIs for automating binary and file system analysis.
  • Knowledge of JTAG, SWD, or Software Defined Radio frameworks.
  • Experience with RTOS or customized embedded Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices, software protection mechanisms, or binary fuzzing infrastructure.
