Software Engineer I (Fintech)

Location: Onsite four days per week in Grand Rapids, MI; Uniondale, NY; Austin, TX; or Atlanta, GA.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 base compensation per year.

What you will do

• Build and maintain APIs, workflows, integrations, and tooling for underwriting and policy administration.
• Implement assigned stories, bug fixes, tests, and documentation from defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Write modular, maintainable code and participate in code reviews, debugging, automation, and production support.
• Assist with integrations between internal systems, external vendors, and policy administration platforms.
• Improve engineering tooling and developer workflows, including the use of AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.
• Learn insurance concepts including quoting, binding, endorsements, rating, forms, and the policy lifecycle.

Requirements

• 1+ year of software engineering experience.
• Strong foundational skills in Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Familiarity with APIs, integrations, automated testing, debugging, and modern development workflows.
• Comfort using AI-assisted development tools; Claude Code is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, curiosity, accountability, and willingness to ask for help.
• Comfort with an onsite schedule four days per week at one of the listed US locations.
