Software Engineer II (Python/TypeScript)

Location: Onsite four days per week in Grand Rapids, MI; Uniondale, NY; Austin, TX; or Atlanta, GA. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $100,000–$150,000 base compensation per year.

What you will do

• Build and maintain APIs, workflows, integrations, and tooling for underwriting and policy administration systems.
• Own assigned features, enhancements, bug fixes, tests, documentation, deployment support, and operational follow-through.
• Translate evolving requirements from engineering, underwriting, and business stakeholders into reliable technical solutions.
• Integrate internal systems, external vendors, and policy administration platforms.
• Debug, test, automate, monitor, and provide operational support for production systems.
• Improve engineering tooling, developer workflows, and team practices while using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong Python or JavaScript/TypeScript fundamentals.
• Experience building or maintaining APIs, workflows, integrations, or internal tooling.
• Experience with testing, debugging, automation, monitoring, and production support.
• Ability to work with evolving requirements, communicate clearly, and deliver with moderate independence.
• Interest in applying insurance, underwriting, or policy administration concepts.

Nice to have

• Experience with Claude Code or similar AI-assisted development tools.
